Beryl

From Beastiepedia: The Beastieball Wiki

Beryl is a town in Amberstone. It is home to the Mythic Dreamers. It is also adjacent to the Chroma Sea.

Description

Beryl is a small town surrounded by water. It is made up of several levels. The upper levels are made up of dirt while part of the lowest level is concrete with a railing. There are eight buildings including the Beastieball Center, the Railhouse, the Gym, and the Boathouse. The western cliff has a set of railroad tracks leading north. The town has exits to the north and east. The eastern exit leads to Rutile while the northern exit is inaccessible due to a closed gate on the railroad. Players may also rent a boat from the Boathouse to travel on water, although this feature is not yet available.

Beryl is known for its excellent Beastieball team and port. It serves as the keystone for transporting goods to and from Geo City.

Beryl is home to many characters, such as Riven and some minor characters.

Story

Beryl is one of the towns containing a Ranked Coach that the player should challenge and defeat to raise their rank. Beryl's head coach is Riven of the Mythic Dreamers. The people of Beryl think very highly of her and her team.

Upon arriving in town, Riven is away from the Beastieball Center, working on a novel on a bench near the water. After meeting her Punkchirp in the Center, the player can confront Riven about her status as a coach. Although she is initially reluctant, her Beasties arrive behind you, making her realize she has been unfair to them and accept your challenge.

Trivia

  • Beryl is named after a mineral by the same name. The first eyeglasses constructed in the 13th century had lenses made of beryl, because when pure and colorless, it was clearer than the glass made at the time.
    • Glasses are stereotypically associated with intelligence. Fittingly, the Mythic Dreamers utilize Mind-based Beasties. Riven herself also notably wears large glasses and loves to read and write.
    • The blue variety of beryl is also known as aquamarine, which could be a pun related to the sea surrounding the western and southern borders of the town.
