Jack

From Beastiepedia: The Beastieball Wiki

"RAWR!!!'"

Jack is a major NPC in Beastieball, and the coach of the Mega Beasts.

Jack’s theme is Jack Appears!, and their battle theme is VS. The Mega Beasts.

Appearance

Jack wears an outfit very reminiscent of the Sports King’s, with a leotard, tights, a fluffy cape, and the signature rocket boots. They also have a golden belt and fluff around their wrists that furthers the design similarities between them and the King, along with the multiple crown emblems along their outfit. They wear a horned helmet with a visor that covers their face, and gloves that cover their hands.

Jack is slender, but as their whole body is covered, nothing more is known about their physical appearance.

Jack's helmet visor can display digital expressions. They commonly use it to display emoticons such as >:0, >:3, and >w<.

Personality

Jack acts rather dramatically, yet they do not seem very serious. Like Sports King, they talk in all lowercase. They also use lots of punctuation, and even keysmash occasionally.

Story

Jack can appear and block the player’s path in a variety of locations, but will only do so 2 times. These locations are:

First Encounter

In Jack’s first encounter, they accuse the player of being a cheater, saying that their match with Marlin was fraudulent, and challenge them to a game. After Jack is defeated, they say that they will come back to fight you again.

Swish Fashion

Jack appears to derail the player’s interview with Swish Fashion. They say that the Mega Beasts are much more fashionable and sponsorable than the player, and plays a match against them to prove it.

Regardless of the match outcome, Jack alleges that the Mega Beasts are much more worth the sponsor’s time, before leaving. Swish Fashion seemed to agree, as Riley later gets a “weird call” saying that they did not get the sponsorship.

Second Encounter

Jack appears to block the player’s path again. They state their championship run will be one for the books, and that they’re ready now to defeat the player. When defeated, Jack claims they’ll “DELETE” the player next time.

Third Encounter

As the player tries to enter their (X)th Beastieball Center, Jack will come out of it, and challenge them to one more match. After the match, regardless of outcome, they leave, saying they must continue “for the beasties.”

Final Encounter

SPOILER WARNING
This section contains endgame spoilers for Beastieball! Consider yourself warned.

After the player registers for the Crown Series, Jack is revealed to actually be Riley. They challenge the player to one more match for the right to represent Rutile in the series, but concede to them in the end.

During the ending HYPE mode match, Jack swoops in and gives a passionate speech about how Beastieball was and should always be about the Beasties, and the League that fails to understand that has no right to exist. This pushes the HYPE meter over the edge, causing it to explode.

Post-Crown Series

The player can find Jack at the summit of the Alto Alps. They challenge them to one more match, here at the top. No secrets, no stakes this time, just for the fun of it.

Trivia

  • If the player tries to call someone while Jack is on-screen, Jack will interrupt them, calling the act disrespectful and teasing them for “calling their MOM” and for obviously not actually having friends to call.
    • If the player changes their team name between Jack encounters, Jack will make fun of them for not being able to keep their branding straight.
  • Jack is likely named after the playing card, creating a trio with the Sports “King,” Valerie Stride, coach of the Radical “Queens,” and “Jack.”
    • The developers’ personal name for the player character is also “Ace.”
  • Their team, the Mega Beasts, are all named after cats.
    • Jack also makes a cat-like “mrrrow!!” when you defeat them in their second encounter.
      • Despite this, their vocal sounds are dog-like barking and howling.
