Rutile Nature Preserve

From Beastiepedia: The Beastieball Wiki

The Rutile Nature Preserve is a location in Amberstone. It is where the story begins, and the construction of a stadium over it is what prompts the story to occur.

Description

The Rutile Nature Preserve is a nature preserve adjacent to and overseen by the town of Rutile. It serves as a sanctuary for Beasties to live and thrive with minimal influence from humans.

The Preserve is made up of at least 5 screens on the map. Some of these screens are blocked behind a railway gate, requiring the player to hit a lever with a Beastieball to open the way.

There are many known Beasties living in the Preserve, including:

Story

The story begins with the player as a child in the Preserve several years ago, where they meet four wild Beasties and their new friend Riley. After playing some Beastieball, they go home to Rutile.

Several years later in the present, the player and Riley are relaxing in their camp when they hear commotion coming from the Preserve. There, they find Construction Moe tearing down trees under instruction from the Beastieball League. Riley insists that the player hurry to town and ask Marlin for more information.

Marlin admits that the League wants to build a new stadium there, and he has no say in it due to his poor standings. Seeing this, Riley suggests that the player takes over as head coach so they can defeat Ranked Coaches, climb the rankings, and eventually convince the League to cancel the project. If all goes as planned, the Nature Preserve and its inhabitants would be saved.

Trivia

  • After the tutorial, no music plays while the player visits the damaged area of the Preserve.
  • Although a wild Axolati, Kichik, and Bildit all appear in the preserve at the start of the game, others of the same species cannot be encountered there.
    • It could be that they were once found there several years ago but are not anymore, that they evacuated the area after part of the preserve was damaged, or that those three were only present by some coincidence.
